THRISSUR: A man and his son died after their house collapsed in heavy rain and strong winds at Vendor near Amballur here on Friday morning.
Chenakkala Ayyapan, 70, and his son Babu, 45, were staying at their house, which was in a dilapidated condition, when the mishap occurred. According to the local people, the structure of the house was weak and it went down in the morning. Ayyapan was found dead inside the house, while son Babu was seen lying in the verandah outside.
Ayyapan’s wife was shifted to a shelter in Kakkanad as the house was in a pathetic condition. Babu’s wife and two children were staying away, as they were separated owing to family issues. Babu had come back to the house at Vendor from his sister’s house the previous day.
Education Minister C Raveendranath visited the accident spot. The inquest was done by the police in the presence of Mukundapuram tahsildar.
