Kerala nurse Lini lifted Chempanoda’s image, public tarnishes it

The reputation of her place Chempanoda in Perambra slumped and hit rock bottom on Tuesday after a man, collapsed due to blood sugar level variation, was left unattended for nearly an hour.

KOZHIKODE: The feature by Western media on Lini Sajeesh, who sacrificed her life by serving a Nipah virus victim, is still going viral on social media, but the reputation of her place Chempanoda in Perambra slumped and hit rock bottom on Tuesday after a man, collapsed due to blood sugar level variation, was left unattended for nearly an hour.

Onlookers feared he was infected by the deadly virus, and it took the Perambra Taluk Hospital staff to arrive on the scene and save his life. The incident occurred around Wednesday noon. A person identified as Shekhar, who has roots in Chennai and lives near Perambra, collapsed on the road at the Chempanoda bus stop.

Hundreds of people, including auto drivers, gathered at the spot, but it was P Abubacker, a Perambra hospital staff, who finally took him after being alerted by Joby Augustin, a junior health inspector.
“We suddenly rushed to the spot in an ambulance and the patient was immediately attended to by doctors. He’s now recovering at the hospital,” said Abubacker.
