KOCHI: Various programmes aimed at enhancing the growth of the Kerala State Handloom Development Corporation (Hanveev) are in the pipeline, said Industries Minister A C Moideen.

“The government is implementing a slew of programmes that have been devised to give a proper direction for the growth of the handloom sector. The move to procure cloth from the handloom sector for providing uniforms to schoolchildren will boost the industry’s growth,” he said while laying the foundation stone for the multi-storey building of Hanveev’s regional office here on Sunday as part of the golden jubilee celebrations of the corporation.

The corporation requires more looms and workers for providing handloom uniforms to school children. “Special training has been imparted to those working in the handloom sector for this purpose. The programmes will help ensure job security and increase the wages of those working in the sector,” he said.
