KOCHI: The Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA) is likely to reinstate actor Dileep, who was thrown out of the organisation last year in the wake of the actor abduction case. The decision was taken at the AMMA general body meeting held here on Sunday. Incidentally, the media were barred entry into the meeting, with office-bearers adopting a defiant stance saying they will not be making a formal announcement to reporters.

Sources said the Women in Cinema Collective (WCC) stayed away from the meeting. It is learnt the senior actors and majority of the participants took a stance in favour of Dileep at the meeting. They reportedly took the line the action taken by AMMA against Dileep went against the procedures and AMMA’s bylaws. Significantly, the new generation heartthrobs Prithviraj, Tovino and Nivin Pauly too kept off the meeting.
