Heavy rains likely in Kerala

PUNE: The Northeast Monsoon rainfall is very likely to commence over south-east Peninsular India around October 26, predicted the Indian Meteorological Department in a bulletin here today.

Thunderstorm, accompanied with lightning and gusty winds, is very likely to occur at isolated places over Tamil Nadu and Kerala during next 24 hours, it said.

Heavy rain is very likely at isolated slices in Kerala during the period.

Rain or thundershowers had occurred at most sections in Andaman & Nicobar Islands and at many nooks in Kerala during past 24 hours.

They had occurred at a few portions in Jharkhand and Lakshadweep during the period.

Isolated swathes of Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, Tamil Nadu and south interior Karnataka also received the showers during the period.

Dry weather prevailed over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, West Bengal, Sikkim, Bihar Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Gujarat, Konkan, Goa, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Rayalaseema, coastal and north interior Karnataka during the period.

Day temperatures were appreciably above normal in Marathwada and coastal Karnataka as well in some divisions of Assam, Meghalaya, Madhya Pradesh, Saurashtra, Kutch, Konkan, Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Vidarbha, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Rayalaseema and north interior Karnataka during the period.

They were above norm in Odisha and Gujarat Region as well in some parts of Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh and south interior Karnataka during the period.

They were above par in remaining regions of Saurashtra, Kutch, Madhya Maharashtra, Vidarbha, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and north interior Karnataka during the period.

Day temperatures were appreciably below normal in some sites of Himachal Pradesh during the period.

They were below norm in some belts of west Uttar Pradesh, west Rajasthan and Tamil Nadu.

They were normal over the rest of the regions during the period.

The highest maximum temperature of 40.0 degree Celsius was recorded at New Kandla (Kutch).

Night temperatures were below par in some areas of Uttarakhand, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Gujarat Region, Rayalaseema, north interior Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.

They were above norm in some pockets of Odisha, Jammu & Kashmir, west Rajasthan, Saurashtra, Kutch, Madhya Maharashtra, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Telangana and interior Karnataka.

They were normal over the rest of the regions.

The lowest minimum temperature of 10.5 degree C was recorded at Sikar (east Rajasthan).
