Palakkad: Man surrenders after killing wife, children

A man who killed his wife and two children surrendered at the Chittur police station on Monday.

PALAKKAD: A man who killed his wife and two children surrendered at the Chittur police station on Monday. The accused is Manickan, 38, son of Kandan, residing near G T S Manchira at Chittur.
The vicitms are his wife Kumari, 35, their children Manoj, 15, and Megha, 11.

They were killed with a machete while they were sleeping. The incident occurred on Sunday night. The accused surrendered at the Chittur police station at 7 am on Monday.Manoj, was a class X student at the Raja’s High School, Kollengode and Megha was a class VII student at the Victoria Girls’ High School, Chittur.

The couple eked out a living by doing laundry work, and Kumari also used to work as a domestic help. The family was staying in a rented house at Manchira for the last two years.  Due to frequent quarrels, Kumari had been staying in her own house at Vattekad near Kollengode.

After police investigation, the bodies were shifted to Thrissur Medical College Hospital for postmortem.
Superintendent of police Debesh Kumar Behera and DySP Vijayakumar visited the site.  Chittur circle inspector V Hamza is conducting a probe.
