KOCHI: In a fresh twist to the controversy surrounding his membership in the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (A.M.M.A), actor Dileep on Tuesday posted his resignation letter on his Facebook page to claim he had quit on his own and was not ousted as claimed by its president Mohanlal.

Dileep said all the allegations and demands to oust him without even a hearing were part of a conspiracy by certain A.M.M.A members.

“There’re a lot of people who live with the token given by this association and as a person who always stood by its rulebook, I would rather not see it torn apart in public because of the actions of a few people with vested interests,’’ said Dileep

Actor Dileep wrote in his letter: “I don’t want any more attempts to bring down A.M.M.A in my name. As I believe that I’m a member of A.M.M.A till this moment, I’m stepping down from the association. I request this letter be considered as an official resignation.”

He also said in his FB status that he is releasing the letter because it was not available on the public domain after A.M.M.A’s executive committee meeting and that he was giving his resignation after a long talk with his actor-brother Mohanlal.

“I’m aware that I can be thrown out of the association only if the general body, which is the highest decision-making body, decides so. However, I’m resigning as I don’t want the association to be destroyed in my name,” the actor said. He went on to say that, if the resignation is accepted, it is only quitting and not expulsion.
