Excerpts from the interview given by Opposition Leader V S Achuthanandan to Malayalam Kala Kayika Vedi, Orkkatteri, which is producing a documentary on RMP leader T P Chandrasekharan.

Q: Do you believe that the martyrdom of RMP leader T P Chandrasekharan was a part of his endurance to uphold Communist virtues?

A: I see T P Chandrasekharan as a brave Communist who stood against right wing opportunism and fought for maintaining true Communist virtues.

Q: You are the only Communist leader whom T P Chandrasekharan had always respected and adored. How do you see this?

A: I have already given the answer. He was a fighter who fought for protecting Communist virtues.

Q: There were reports that gold smuggling case accused Fayaz had contacted the accused in T P Chandrasekharan murder case at Kozhikode District Jail. How do you see the links of TP case accused with smugglers and anti-national activists?

A: The incident demands a thorough enquiry. It was really surprising that a smuggler had met the accused. Such a meeting could not have happened without the help of the police. The links of the accused with smugglers have to be brought to light through a comprehensive enquiry.

Q: Do you feel that he was a model for Communists?

A: Absolutely. The activities of T P Chandrasekharan were a model for all youth and communists alike.
