Close on the heels of Aam Aadmi Party leader Aravind Kejriwal’s resignation as Delhi Chief Minister, the AAP in Kerala is dreaming to make it big in the Lok Sabha polls. A list of prominent candidates are being shortlisted to contest the polls.

As of now, RTI activist D B Binu has been  shortlisted to contest from Ernakulam constituency, award-winning writer and activist Sara Joseph from Thrissur, human rights activist Anil Aickara from Kottayam, writer and columnist M N Karassery from Kozhikode, sources said. Except in the case of Karassery, all names are almost finalised and will be officially declared soon.

It is learnt that the names were approved by the National Council of AAP.

Karassery, however, told ‘Express’, that he will not be in the fray.

It is learnt that party convenor Manoj Padamanabhan has denied the request of party workers to contest from Ernakulam. Officials of AAP Kerala were unwilling to confirm the names.

Manoj said that ever since Kejriwal’s  resignation, the party is getting huge feedback from the state.

“Earlier, we had decided to contest only from a limited number of constituencies. But taking ino account the huge feedback from the public after Kejriwal’s resignation we have decided  not to put ceiling on the number of seats to be contested,” Manoj said.  The candidates are being chosen on the basis  of credibility, anti-corruption stance and other individual factors. Like any other party, the list is generated by the leaders itself for those with greater public appeal.

The AAP has extended its deadline for applications for wishful candidates to apply for an election ticket.
