Manoj Padmanabhan, state convener of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), has clarified that the party has taken no decision so far regarding contesting the Lok Sabha polls from any constituency in the state. He also denied reports that the AAP is making attempts to form an alliance with parties in the state.

Speaking to reporters at Ernakulam Press Club on Tuesday, Manoj Padmanabhan said that the decision regarding fielding candidates for the General Election will be taken only after February 15. “We have not decided about contesting the election from Kerala. We will contest only from the constituencies where we have enough ground support and when we find worthy candidates. The party’s motive is to stand for people’s issues and take the necessary measures for them. Those interested in contesting the election on AAP ticket have to fill the form available on our website and the person should be recommended by at least 700 persons,” he said.

AAP state spokesman K P Ratheesh said that till now the party has not approached anyone to form any kind of alliance.

“We will not form any alliance with any party in the state. AAP has never approached any party. As per the constitution of the party, only the national leadership can decide about membership of political leaders. Others can, however, apply and become members by registering through our website. Active membership will be granted only after reviewing the activities of the person for four months, followed by a screening test and interview session,” K P Ratheesh said.

Manoj Padmanabhan said that the AAP will actively participate in resolving several issues in the state.
