Bid to Molest Woman: Scriptwriter Held

Hashir Muhammed, 29, the scriptwriter of the film ‘Neelaakasham Pachakadal Chuvannabhoomi’, was arrested for allegedly molesting a 33-year-old house wife in an apartment at Thaikoodam here on Friday. According to the police, he started residing in the flat on the fourth floor of the apartment two weeks ago. The lady and her husband have been living in the flat on the tenth floor of the apartment for the last three months. The police said that the incident occurred around 10.30 am when the lady came to visit the flat of her sister on the fourth floor.

Hashir allegedly followed and maltreated her. The police said that the accused attacked the lady when she resisted him. Hearing her cry for help the neighbours came out and captured him. He was later handed over to the police.

The police said that he was in the nude and under the influence of drugs during the act. In the subsequent search, cops recovered ganja from his flat.

After the the incident the victim fell unconscious and was admitted to a nearby private hospital. She later registered a complaint against the scriptwriter at Maradu Police Station.

Sub-Inspector A B Vipin said that an FIR has been registered for attempt to rape, physical assault and display of nudity. He will be presented before the court on Saturday.

Hashir, a native of Kottakkal, is an engineering graduate. Before joining the film industry he worked with Information Technology companies like Accenture, Nokia, HCL Technologies Limited and Deutsche Bank for five years in cities like Chennai, Bangalore, Helsinki and Singapore.

His first film was ‘Aami’ in ‘Anchu Sundharikal’, directed by Anwar Rasheed.
