The festival of arts and music is in full swing. A spectacular and dazzling cultural procession took the town by storm before the inaugural ceremony.

The procession was taken out from Model HSS around 3 pm on Tuesday. Despite the heat playing  spoilsport, the students of Vivekananda School, Muvattupuzha, and Mar Athanasious School, Valakam, gave a stunning performance on the drums.

The dexterity of the finger movements was commendable. Students were all smiles when handmade cut-outs in purple and orange of flowers and other forms floated in the air.

About 350 students from schools across Muvattupuzha, from St Augustine’s to Sivankunnu SNDP, participated in the procession. Scouts and JRC teams also joined the procession. The air turned festive as the students in colourful costumes marched to the tunes of the band and other music.

As the procession moved on, contests were held in high spirits at various venues. Some were seen biting their nails as they anxiously waited for the results while some broke down when they did not taste success. Many others took everything in their stride. Judges had a tough time with students  who put their best foot forward. People both young and old were seen taking a peek at the numerous trophies stored in a room. On the whole students, parents and spectators were having a whale of a time at different venues.
