KOCHI: Votes are still in the machines. But the height of confidence has emboldened BJP workers to prepare a million laddus to celebrate the Lok Sabha election results, which will be declared on Friday.

Thousands of BJP supporters and fans of the party’s prime ministerial candidate, Narendra Modi, are gearing up for celebrations across the state with laddus and colourful firecrackers.

According to party office-bearers, 50,000 laddus are being prepared in the Ernakulam city alone.

“All who reach the city will be given laddus. As these laddus are prepared at home, the cost will come down to around `4 for a piece,” said C G Rajagopal, general convener of the NaMo Brigade.

“Celebrations are planned by the party at various levels in all the districts, Lok Sabha constituencies and Assembly segments. However, there are a number of reasons for this particular jubilant mood before the official declaration of results. It’s expected that the party will get a seat in Kerala. This has excited the party workers further. Moreover, the party may return to power at the Centre after the gap of a decade,” said party spokesperson V V Rajesh.

“There can be umpteen jubilant marches happening without the party’s knowledge,” he added.
