After enthralling spectators with his music and mimicry, Trichur Nazeer is now trying a hand at serving the people.  Nazeer, a cine artist and mouth organ player, filed his nomination with the District Election Commission and District Collector C A Latha on Wednesday.

The artist, accompanied by a few of his fans, arrived in his Benz car, which he claims to have been used by Mohanlal in ‘Devasuram’. When asked about his winning chances, Nazeer said he has faith in the people of Kozhikode.

Nazeer claims that his name features in the Guinness Book of World Records for performing mimicry continuously for 40 hours and playing the mouth organ for 101 hours. “Most of the people in Kozhikode are among my fans because I am familiar to most of the mimicry venues here.

Fed up with political parties that never cease to boast, they will give their support for my ideas about development,” said Nazeer.

Alleging that the candidates in the constituency were nominated by the corporate powers, Nazeer added he was offered `10 lakh to withdraw his candidature. “Intending to preserve the legacy of the state, I selected coconut as my election symbol,” Nazeer added.
