The aggregate earnings of  Lord Ayyappa Temple here during period-ended  December 10,  in the ongoing Mandala Pooja season,  stood at  Rs 78.50 crore against Rs 60 crore during the same period last season,  showing an increase of  Rs 18 crore. Highly-placed TDB sources said that of the total earnings, the income from the sale of  ‘aravana prasadam’ stood at Rs 30.50 crore during the period under review.

The income from the sale of aravana prasadam during the same period last season was Rs 26 crore, the sources said.

Hundi Collection

The aggregate  ‘hundi’ collection was around Rs 27 crore during the period under review as against Rs 2 crore, the sources said.  The total earnings from ‘neyyabhishekam’  during the period ended December 10 stood at  Rs 80 lakh in contrast to Rs 79 lakh. The income from the accommodation facilities came to  Rs 1.50 crore during the period under review as against Rs 97 lakh during the period last season.

Two pilgrims passed away due to heart ailment  at Sabarimla on Wednesday.  Sreedharan, 48, Muliar Palam, Sannthivallam at Kumbalam in Kasaragod, died of cardiac arrest at North Nada at 5.45 am on Wednesday.  Though he was rushed to Sannidhanam Government Hospital,  he was declared brought dead.  In the other incident, Aravindan, 45, Mullackal at Thrippalam in Thrissur passed away at Appachimedu Cardiology Centre at 4 pm.
