The Sabarimala Thiruvabharanapatha Samrakshana Samiti has urged the district administration to take measures for the smooth passage of the Thiruvabharanam procession from Pandalam to Sabarimala. Talking to ‘Express’, samiti general convener  Prasada Kuzhikala and convener R Anil Kumar said, though representations were made to the district administration and the Revenue authorities to reclaim the encroached land on the procession route, hardly any follow-up action was taken.

Though the survey authorities earmarked the boundaries by installing pillars, eviction of the encroachers and reclaiming of the encroached land were not done even after two pilgrimage season, they said.

“A joint team of government officials and the samiti volunteers toured and identifies the encroached land during last pilgrimage season. However, no follow-up step has been taken till date,” Anlkumar said.

To draw the attention on the laxity of the authorities at the taluk and village offices- level, the samiti will submit a memorandum to the District Collector.

The samiti leaders said that even after identifying the procession route, the village office personnel is yet to erect the survey pillars at Kulanada and Mezhuveli village office limits.
