BJP leader L K Advani is a victim of RSS’ culture, CPM state secretary Pinarayi Vijayan has said.  He told reporters here on Monday, referring to Advani’s statement here on Sunday that the BJP would not practice political untouchability even against the CPM, that while the then Prime Minister A B Vajpayee condemned the Gujarat riots, Advani did not oppose Narendra Modi. Pinarayi asked whether Advani would express repentance over the demolition of the Babri Masjid. It was Advani’s eulogising of Mohammadali Jinnah which made him fall out of favour with the RSS, Pinarayi said.

He said both the Cong and the BJP were following the same communal agenda. In fact, BJP has a soft approach towards the Congress. In return, Congress is implementing projects which are also acceptable to the BJP, Pinarayi said. He said when BJP came to power in Karnataka, it had claimed that its govt would evolve a new political culture. What has been happening in Karnataka. Both the Congress and the BJP are competing with each other on the issue of corruption, he said.

The CPM leader said his party would continue to follow the secular approach and there would be no compromise on its fight against the RSS and the BJP which had tried to endanger the secular platform of the country.   He criticised the statement of M G S Narayanan, made at the anniversary of the Bharatheeya Vichara Kendram, saying that it was not expected from a historian of his stature. He said all historians, including MGS, new that EMS had evaluated India’s history and Kerala history from the Marxian viewpoint. Pinarayi said it was MGS’ anti-Marxist line which prompted him to make the controversial statement.

He said the BJP and the RSS had been trying hard to destroy the CPM for a long time. They wanted to endanger the very existence of the CPM from the days of Thalasseri riots. But it was CPM’s strong stand against the communal agenda of the RSS which stopped the latter’s march to progress in the state, Pinarayi said.
