ROURKELA: A bank robbery attempt was foiled by the Rourkela police in the wee hours of Thursday following arrest of three miscreants. They were planning a dacoity at the Basanti Colony branch of SBI under Uditnagar police limits.

Rourkela SP Himanshu Lal said six criminals had assembled behind the Civil Court campus at Birajapali when police nabbed three of them around 4.30 am. Three others managed to escape. Those nabbed are Puli Mahadev alias Madhav (20), Aulu Ajaya (25) and A Budu alias Ravi (20), all from Aska in Ganjam.

The seizures included a country-made pistol with a live ammunition, two numberless motor-bikes, three mobile phones and some cash, he said.
