BERHAMPUR: Bhanjanagar, the most important junction for Ganjam, Kandhamal and Nayagarh, would soon have a bus terminus. This was decided at a meeting on Friday which was presided over by Bhanjanagar Sub-Collector N Tirumala Nayak.

The present bus stand houses 137 buses including 105 private ones, but lacks basic facilities like toilet, waiting hall and drinking water. Around 10,000 people depend upon the terminus daily. The bus stand is located on a patch of land owned by OSRTC and the adjoining land is that of the Bhanjanagar NAC. Both the lands will be used for construction of the terminus. While the NAC has agreed to provide ` 45 lakh for the bus stand, OSRTC will chip in with ` 5 lakh. The local MLA and Law Minister BK Arukh has been requested to arrange for the balance `50 lakh.
