ROURKELA: Sundargarh district court on Monday remanded two drug peddlers in judicial custody. They were arrested by Birmitrapur Police, the previous day, on charges of carrying a large quantity of ‘ganja’.
The police had also seized around 3.5 kg of ganja and
` 50,000 from a pick-up van at Birmitrapur check gate.
Birmitrapur SDPO Suman Dutta identified the arrested as Pintu Singh (40) and Rajesh Prasad (30) who had brought the contraband from Buxar in Bihar. He said that the contraband was packed in small plastic packets and hidden inside a secret cabinet in the van. He said it appeared that the miscreants had travelled with more than the seized quantity of the contraband as the cabinet was big enough to hold 100 kg of ganja.
A case has been registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.
