BHUBANESWAR: Death of a 58-year-old man in a mishap sparked off tension in the Old Station Bazaar area here on Monday. The deceased, Trinath Moharana, a local resident, was having a cup of tea at a roadside stall when the incident took place.

 Police said Moharana was hit by stone bricks from a wall which caved in after a truck rammed it. Moharana sustained serious injuries and died on the spot.

The truck was on its way back after unloading cargo at a local godown. The incident triggered tension as locals staged a road blockade and wanted to know from police how did the heavy vehicle manage to get into the area which is a no-entry zone. Bhubaneswar DCP Nitinjit Singh and Traffic ACP Nirmal Satpathy rushed to the spot and pacified the locals.  

Later in the day, some of the locals tried to ransack the godown where the truck unloaded the cargo. To control the situation, police resorted to mild baton-charge.

ONE INJURED: A commuter was hurt after the City Bus, he was travelling in, ran over his left leg. Siba Sundar Pradhan (40) was getting down when the bus sped away. The wheels of the bus ran over Pradhan’s left leg.
