KORAPUT: With the deadline for the Maoists’ demands for securing release of the Italian Paulo and MLA Jhina Hikaka passing on Tuesday, family members of the latter are eagerly waiting for good news.

Kaushalya, Hikaka’s wife, has been spending sleepless nights for the last 19 days.   She says she has lost faith in the Government.

“My husband never harmed anyone. He has rather worked for the uplift of tribals in the area. The Maoists claim to be pro-tribals and even my husband is always in favour of tribals’ development. I just hope they release him soon,” she says. Kaushalya says her mother-in-law has been inconsolable ever since she had heard about the abduction.
