BHUBANESWAR: The All Odisha State Road Transport Staff Association (AOSRTSA) members have gheraoed the Odisha State Road Transport Corporation (OSRTC) office for an indefinite period demanding fulfillment of  their long standing demands.

Threatening to lock up the OSRTC office indefinitely, the agitating members stated that they will not allow the office to function as long as their demands are not met.

The association members alleged that the government is ignoring their long standing demands which include regularisation of contractual jobs, revised pay as per the sixth pay commission, payment of bonus as per the Bonus Act and  payment of Dearness Allowance (DA) on a regular basis.

“The OSRTC board has approved the payment under the sixth pay commission and submitted the proposal to the State Government on April 2011. But the government is yet to take any action on it,” said the association president Bibhu Samantray adding from Monday, the protest will intensify as the association members will arrive from different parts of the state to participate in the protest. Samantray puts the figure roughly at around more than 300 employees, who will gherao the OSRTC office for an indefinite period till their demands are met.
