BERHAMPUR: Large-scale vacancies in the urban bodies in Ganjam have hit development in many areas.

As per official records, of the 17 Notified Area Councils (NAC), 10 do not have permanent executive officers.

One of these 10 NACs is Belaguntha where there is no regular executive officer for the last two years. The charge has been entrusted to Bhanjanagar additional BDO. And with the officer getting little time from his work, he isn’t able to devote time for the NAC works.

The Belaguntha NAC got an allocation of around ` 2 crore in the last two years for various development works, but the amount remained unspent. A market complex was constructed here two years back. Having 16 shops, the market has not been opened till date.
