JEYPORE: Even as Andhra Odisha Border Special Zonal Committee (AOBSZC) of CPI (Maoist) has extended the deadline to April 18, rumours abound about deteriorating health of Laxmipur MLA Jhina Hikaka.

Hikaka has reportedly undergone treatment for dehydration twice in the last 15 days. He was kidnapped on March 24.

With the Maoists regularly changing place to evade the security forces, Hikaka has to walk about 30 km every day. With temperature touching 40 degree Celsius, it is no mean task.

The frequency has increased after the Chief Minister’s recent visit to Laxmipur with them walking during the day and even at night suspecting police action. They reportedly have moved towards the jungle area in Andhra Pradesh.

However, there has been no word on his health either from the Maoists or the State Government.
