BHUBANESWAR: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Sunday left for New Delhi on a five-day visit during which he would attend the meeting on internal security convened by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Monday.

“The Prime Minister has called a meeting of chief ministers on internal security of the country. I will be attending that meeting,” Naveen told mediapersons before leaving.

He said he would also meet some Union ministers and discuss with them various development programmes for the State. A number of demands of the State would also be taken up with them, he said.

The issue, relating to abduction of ruling BJD legislator Jhina Hikaka and two Italian nationals, is likely to figure during Naveen’s meetings with the Central ministers, sources said. The Chief Minister is scheduled to return on April 19, the sources added.
