BHUBANESWAR: A Vigilance Court has ordered confiscation of former joint director of Horticulture Surya Narayan Behera’s disproportionate assets. His property is valued at ` 18.87 lakh. After a petition by the State Government, the confiscation authorisation officer of the special court ordered that Behera’s assets, moveable and fixed, be confiscated. It includes a building at Angul, two farmhouses in Dhenkanal besides ` 32,000 in cash and gold jewellery. Behera, who had joined service as supervisor in 1966, rose to joint director and held the post from 1990 to 1995. It was then the Vigilance had booked him for accumulating assets disproportionate to his known sources of income and searched his premises.
