KANTABANJI(BALANGIR): Shortage of doctors in the Community Health Centre (CHC) here has left the patients in the lurch.  The hospital lacks specialists in medicine, surgery and anaesthesia.

Besides the residents of Kantabanji, the hospital caters to the patients from neighbouring Bangomunda, Muribahal and Turekela blocks. But thanks to the prevailing pathetic condition of the hospital, it fails to serve the poor patients.

Balangir CDMO Bikrant Kumar Kindo said two medicine specialists Rabi Tripathy and Ram Prasad Sahu had already been deputed to the CHC.

Sahu will treat the patients for the first three days of a week while Tripathy will examine patients next three days and for the remaining day another doctor from Turekela has been deputed, Kindo said.

Protesting the shortage of doctors, Kantabanji Citizen Committee staged a bandh  on Wednesday.

They were demanding immediate posting of doctors in the CHC .
