BHUBANESWAR: Bhubaneswar DCP Nitinjeet Singh on Sunday disclosed the identity of five accused in Panchapalli firing incident under the Airfield police station at a press conference here.
The victim, Dipak Pradhan, was injured on April 17 when unidentified miscreants had fired on him while he was returning from his shop that night. He had received four bullets in his stomach. The police had initially detained four youths for questioning. The five accused have been identified as Ranjeet Champaty, Satyapriya Biswal (of Panchapalli village), Manmath Baral, Ashok Mohapatra and Mahadev Mondal (from Khandagiri).
The police officer revealed that the accused had taken ` 30,000 from the main accused to kill Pradhan. The main accused had allegedly provided the hatchet men ` 3,000 initially to physically torture Pradhan.
The DCP said the main accused was still absconding and the hunt is on to nab him.
The five arrested have not given any information about the main accused yet.
