PAIKMAL(BARGARH): Armed Maoists, including female cadres, set a country liquor brewing unit afire in Kadogacha village of Mandosil gram panchayat bordering Chhattisgarh under Paikmal police limits late on Sunday.

Reports said the extremists barged into the brewing unit and enquired about the owner, Niwas Agrawal, who was not present.

Later, they attacked the henchman, identified as Mahendra Singh, before setting the unit afire. The fire engulfed the entire unit destroying the stored Mahua flowers, pouches and the packing machine.

The Maoists also left behind a poster demanding a ban on liquor and action against Ghasiram Agrawal for the caste clash in Lathore of Balangir district.

Police along with fire brigade reached the spot on Monday morning and doused the flames.
