ROURKELA: By Saturday evening, above 2,000 students had arrived in the Steel City and over 1,000 more are expected in the night as the city administration, in tandem with social organisations has made elaborate arrangements.

 The examination will be held between 9.30 am and 12.30 pm for 95 per cent of the students while rest five per cent would write papers from 2 pm to 5 pm.

 The district administration has set up an information centre and city maps at the railway station for the students’ guidance. Volunteers, including NCC boys, were ready to help them.

 Rourkela ADM PC Pathi said as many as 40 town buses had been pressed into service for the students as each of them would be charged a nominal ` 10 to reach their destinations. He said the administration has set up makeshift accommodation at 30 centres for those who arrive late and could not avail of lodging facilities.

 The Rourkela police on their part too have made elaborate arrangements to ensure hassle-free traffic and safety of the students and their guardians.

 It is expected that the situation would be normal by Sunday evening.
