Red threat: 2 home guards resign

Nearly a fortnight after the killing of a home guard by Maoists in Bhuliabandh village, two home guards and a gram rakhi, apprehending threat to their lives, have submitted their resignations to the IIC of Paikmal police station on Thursday.

One of the home guards, Kishore Chandra Deep, had expressed fear in his resignation letter, addressed to the Bargarh SP. The killing of home guard Narayan Sunani (42) outside his house in Bhuliabandh village on August 13 night has left others of ilk shocked resulting in the resignation offers.

Another home guard, Subhas Chandra Sahu of Chuhapali village in Mandiadhipa panchayat under Paikmal police limits had resigned on August 24.

The DIG (NR) Sanjay Kumar said one killing should not create panic among the security forces. He said that their resignations have not been accepted.
