The stage is set for the Golden beach festival at Chandipur-on-sea starting from Thursday. The four-day extravaganza will be inaugurated by Tourism Minister Maheswar Mohanty.
The festival into its 14th year is being organised by golden beach festival committee and Hoteliers Association of Balasore in collaboration with Tourism Department and Tourism Ministry.
While Textile and Handloom Minster Sarojini Hembram is slated to attend the inaugural ceremony, Odissi ballet by the groups from Bhubaneswar and Mahari dance by Rupashree Mohapatra and her troupe will mark the inaugural evening.
Art exhibition, sand art, food stalls with delectable Indian and continental cuisine, pavilions from inside and outside the State and the missile models’ display by the defence organisations will be the added attractions.
“The festival seeks to promote tourism and cultural awareness, boost the cottage industry through exhibition of products by local artisans and craftsmen,” said general secretary of the festival committee Bismoy Mohanty. More than 80 stalls displaying handicrafts have been set up. Water sports like parasailing, zorbing and beach volleyball will also be organised. The hotel association and OTDC’s Pantha Nivas have announced attractive discounts for tourists during the event.

For the first time this year, the festival committee has launched a website dedicated to the beach festival to attract tourists from foreign countries to Chandipur.
