Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Thursday said the State Government is targeting to make Bhubaneswar the most-favoured IT destination among Tier-II cities in the country even as IT exports have shot past the Rs 1400-crore mark during 2011-12.
The IT sector is at the top of the Government’s agenda and Odisha has always been in the forefront of the IT revolution, Naveen said inaugurating the three-day 3rd International Conference on ‘Swarm, Evolutionary and Memetic Computing’ and ‘Fuzzy and Neural Computing’ at the Institute of Technical Education and Research (ITER), a constituent of Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan University.
The Government had taken an initiative to accomplish the mission by synchronising the vision for all-round development in IT sector and growth of IT exports, the CM said adding IT exports from the State were pegged at Rs 1,410 crore during 2011-12 putting the State on the IT map of the country.
“We have witnessed a remarkable growth in both large, small and medium IT industries in Bhubaneswar in about seven years. All the four major IT players _ Infosys, TCS, Wipro and Mahindra Satyam _ have established their development centres in Bhubaneswar,” he said adding, the State has made good progress in IT SEZ sector too.
Naveen said intelligent computing tools such as artificial neural network (ANN) and fuzzy logic approaches have proved to be efficient when applied individually to a variety of problems.
“Recently, there has been a growing interest in combining both these approaches, and as a result, neuro-fuzzy computing techniques have evolved,” he said.
