CUTTACK: The Second Additional District and Sessions Judge, Cuttack, BK Mohapatra, has convicted two persons for drug trafficking and sentenced them to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment.
The judge has held Prafulla Kumar Sahoo (20) of Kosala village under Chendipada police limits of Angul district and Binod Kumar Pradhan (39) of Purunagad of the same district guilty of the charges under NDPS Act and imposed an additional fine of ` 1 lakh each. In default they have to undergo an additional one year of rigorous imprisonment.
Sahoo and Pradhan had been apprehended by the Cuttack Excise officials while transporting about ` 6 lakh worth of the contraband ganja in a car on September 28, 2010. They had been chased and cornered on the Mahanadi bridge and about 141 kg of the contraband was recovered from their possession.
