MALKANGIRI: Border Security Force (BSF) would soon launch a full-scale anti-Maoist operation with a new strategy to flush out the Maoists from their hotbed, said BSF DG UK Bansal while addressing mediapersons at Balimela BSF 107th Battalion headquarters premises on Saturday.

He paid homage to BSF Commandant JR Khaswan, Second-in-command Rajesh Sharan, Inspector Ashok Yadav and ASI Jitendra Kumar, killed in a Maoist ambush near Janiguda on Balimela-Chitrakonda road on Friday.  A galaxy of top officials like DGP Manmohan Praharaj, BSF DIG SK Barua, district SP Anirudha Singh and Collector Balwant Singh paid their respects to the slain officers. South western range DIG Soumendra Priyadarshi also accompanied Praharaj.

The BSF and Police DGs, accompanied by other officials, held an in-camera meeting and took stock of the situation.

The BSF DG asked his jawans to be more careful while fighting the rebels. Boosting their morale, Bansal asked them not to panic at the unfortunate incident. He emphasised on the need to develop intelligence and win locals’ support through civic action programmes.
