ROURKELA: An inquiry has been ordered into the role of a contractual government employee in a poll-related issue.
The Gram Rozgar Sevak, Shambhunath Munda, of Haldikudar GP in Lahunipara block had allegedly campaigned for his wife Purnami Munda, who is contesting for Samiti member post. Stand-in Lahunipara BDO Chuka Oram confirmed that a complaint had been received against Munda that he was engaged in campaigning for his wife.
An extension officer has been asked to inquire into the incident. Senior administrative sources said since he is a low-grade contractual employee he has the liberty to campaign, but it has to be seen if he was trying to influence rural voters with allurement of jobs.
