BHUBANESWAR: A home guard, identified as Prasanna Kumar Lenka, was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly raping a girl on Monday night. The victim had lodged a complaint in the Mahila police station.
Police said the home guard offered the victim lift on his motorcycle while she was on her way to Lingaraj temple on the occasion of Shivaratri.
Instead of going to the temple, Lenka took the girl to a hotel in Bapuji Nagar where he allegedly raped her.
The police also questioned the manager of the hotel who informed that he had given room no. 208 to a person who had come with a girl that night for ` 600.
Lenka has been terminated from service and forwarded to court.
