JAJPUR: A loot attempt by a gang of five armed dacoits was foiled when Jajpur police nabbed four of them from NH-5 near Sathipur on Saturday. One of them managed to flee.

Police said the gang apparently kept a tab on the vehicle transporting around ` 40 lakh to Balasore from Kalinga Nagar on Friday night and had planned a loot.

The  arrest came after the police were tipped off about the suspicious movement of the gang near Sathipur on the NH. “We caught hold of four of them near the toll plaza at Panikoili after a long chase. The arrested revealed their loot plans during interrogation,” said Paresh Rout, IIC of Panikoili police

station.

The gang was operating mainly along the NH-5 _ from Balasore to Khurda _ during night. They were produced in court on Saturday which remanded them in judicial custody.
