CUTTACK: Micro small and medium enterprises are among the most vital determinants of a thriving economy and thus have to be offered maximum support for their development, Governor of Assam Janaki Ballav Patnaik on Friday said.

Inaugurating the silver jubilee celebrations of Orissa Industries Association (OIA) at Jawaharlal Nehru indoor Stadium here on Friday, the former chief minister of the State said that industrial revolution in Orissa had started in the 1980s under his regime. But being first generation entrepreneurs, many of the enterprises established during the period failed which was usual.

As industrialisation has established itself in the State, the Government should now focus on the MSME sector by providing opportunities for their growth and development while aiding revival of the sick ones, the Governor said.

He also distributed prizes to entrepreneurs for their contribution to the growth of MSME sector in the presence of Editor, Sambad Soumya Ranjan Patnaik. Patnaik called for creation of supply chain linkages between large industries and MSMEs of the State and thus establish harmonious growth in the sector.

A seminar on ‘Financial management, credit rating and financial reporting”, was held on the occasion. The three-day celebrations includes the industrial exhibition ‘Shilpa Odisha’ with over 100 stalls.

Among others OIA president Abani Kanungo, secretary Rajesh Kanungo and vice president RP Sharma also spoke.
