JHARSUGUDA: Two persons were arrested by Jharsuguda police on Monday on charges of raping a woman on Sunday night. The accused include transporter Prahallad Pandey (53) of Nuapada and Rajesh Sahu (35) of Purnabasti in the town. Another accused Ashok Sharma, is still at large.
The woman labourer in Nuapada near Beheramal was lured by Sharma, working under Sahu to the house of Pandey with an assurance that she would be paid for the work done. Soon after reaching Pandey’s house, Sharma and Sahu allegedly pounced on her and forced her to drink some intoxicant, which left her unconscious. The three then allegedly gang-raped her.
On Monday, when she regained consciousness, she went home and narrated the ordeal to her husband who lodged a case.
