MALKANGIRI: Foiling an attempt of Left-wing extremists to trigger a blast, the cops on Tuesday morning recovered a landmine from Badigata-Marigeta road under Kalimela police limits.
A joint team of Border Security Force, Special Operation Group and local police led by Kalimela IIC Anirudha Routray detected the landmine during a routine combing operation, Kalimela Police sources said. About 100-metre wire, three country-made guns and Maoist banners and literature have also been recovered from the spot.
It is suspected that the Maoists had planted the landmine targeting the security personnel. Meanwhile, the joint police team has intensified the combing operation in the area.
