JEYPORE: Mild snowfall was witnessed in Deomali of Pottangi block on Tuesday even as biting cold conditions continued in the hilly terrains. The night temperature was at an all-time low of 3 degree Celsius in Laxmipur, Lamtaput, Dasmantapur and Nandapur for the fourth day.
Following intense cold wave, the day temperature in the district has been hovering around 6 degree C. While fog disrupted normal life in Koraput, the tribals of Deomali, the highest peak in the State, found trees covered with snow on Tuesday. While one unconfirmed death was reported from Laxmipur area about two days back, the hospitals in Jeypore, Koraput, Kotpad, Sunabeda, Damanjodi and Laxmipur have been flooded with patients suffering from cold. “We are watching the situation but no flu case has been detected so far,” said Koraput CDMO NK Kar.
