ROURKELA: Jaspal Singh (50) was forwarded to a sub-divisional court at Rourkela on Tuesday for his alleged involvement in illegal transportation of explosive materials.
Reports said Singh, a resident of Gourpada in Rajgangpur, was found transporting explosives when the Raiboga police under the Birmitrapur assembly segment intercepted his jeep on the Ranchi Road, on Monday evening.
The jeep owned by Singh was carrying 450 electrical detonators.
Birmitrapur SDPO Suman Dutta said Singh used to supply explosive materials to illegal quarries and denied possibility of links with the Maoists.
He has been booked under Section 5 of the Explosive Substances Act.
