BARIPADA: Four persons died and seven others were critically injured in two separate road mishaps under Bisoi police limits in Mayurbhanj district on Friday.
Police said the mishap took place when the ill-fated four-wheeler, which was trying to overtake a dumper, hit the vehicle from behind at Patabila Chhak on NH-49 under Mannda police outpost.
One deceased has been identified as helper Suklal Hembrum (26) of Jagannathpur village. The identity of the other two, who died at the district headquarters hospital, is yet to be ascertained, said IIC Dilip Kumar Sahoo. Two families had come in the four-wheeler to attend a tribal festival in Nuagaon village.
The inured identified as Hoopan Mahali (30), Laxmi Mahali (30), Suja Mahali (22), Sanjay Mahali (4) and Mathura Hansda (32) have been admitted in the Baripada hospital. Two others are undergoing treatment at Biosi hospital.
In another accident, a biker collided with a jeep on Bisoi-Rairangpur road at Luhabadia Chhak. The biker identified as Durga Dash of Tamulia village under Rairangpur police limit died on the spot.
