PARADIP: Judicial Magistrate First Class, Kujang, Alpana Swain on Friday sentenced an Assistant Manager of Odisha State Fishery Corporation, Paradip, Khirod Kumar Rout, to three years imprisonment along with a fine of ` 10,000 for misappropriation of ` 1.98 lakh.
Rout was accused of misappropriating funds while he was in-charge of supplying diesel to the vehicles of the corporation from March 3, 2003 to June 5, 2005. It is alleged that he had submitted fake bills against purchase of diesel.
The department conducted an audit into the irregularities on purchase of diesel on June 16 in 2006. An amount of ` 1.98 lakh was found to be misappropriated and an FIR lodged with Paradip Police.
