PARADIP: Controversial contractor Bapi Sarkhel, arrested for his alleged involvement in the Posco coastal road clash, was produced in the court of Junior Magistrate First Class, Kujang, on Monday. He was remanded in judicial custody and sent to Kujang sub-jail.
Earlier, Sarkhel was not produced in court due to health reasons. He was arrested from a hotel at Raipur in Chhattishgarh on December 23.
Two FIRs have been lodged against him in Kujang police station for the December 14 clash when a person was killed and 25 were injured.
Mobile Medical Unit
Essar Foundation has started an MMU (Mobile Medical Unit) in the villages abutting Paradip where the Essar Steel Ltd is setting up a 12-MTPA pellet plant.
The company has started the service in collaboration with the Help Age India, a non-profit organisation.
The project was jointly launched by head of CSR of Essar Foundation Deepak Arora and Director of Health Services, HelpAge India, Georgy Varghese, on Essar Steel Ltd premises. The MMU will provide healthcare facilities to the people of three panchayats , Bhutmundai, Nuagarh and Paradipgarh under Kujang block.
