BHUBANESWAR: With the High School Certificate (HSC) examination about three weeks away, the School and Mass Education Department has asked all the collectors to provide adequate security to officials of the Board of Secondary Education (BSE) which conducts the examination.

The all-important examination starts on March 19 and will continue till March 31. At least five lakh candidates will appear in the examination. The Board will start sending the examination materials from March 6. The examination will be held across 2,095 centres.

Secretary, School and Mass Education Department, Rajesh Verma on Wednesday wrote to all the Collectors asking them to make arrangements for BSE officials as well as centre superintendents. “Necessary steps must be taken to ensure safe custody of question papers and other confidential materials kept at the disposal of Centre superintendents for discipline and law and order,” the letter said.

The Department also asked the police administration to extend protection to BSE officials during transit since they carry confidential materials. If necessary, the officials must be allowed to park their vehicles at the nearby police stations during night hours.
