BHUBANESWAR: After the tour industry expressing dissatisfaction over the  restrictions on visit of foreign tourists to areas inhabited, particularly, by the primitive vulnerable tribal groups (PVTGs), it’s the tour guides who now want the government to re-look into the decision.

Stating that many tour guides in the tribal regions of the State would be rendered jobless following the move, members of Odisha Tourist Guide Association said this would also hamper tribal tourism to some extent.

In a release, they demanded formation of  a ‘consultation committee’ of all the stakeholders like guides and tour associations and convene a meeting immediately to deal with the situation arising out of the restrictions imposed.

The association added that even as night stay should be prohibited in the tribal villages, photography can be allowed in tribal weekly haats.
