BALASORE: The CPM has demanded action against Remuna BDO for allegedly declaring three defeated ward member candidates as elected.

Alleging that the officer has committed large-scale irregularities during declaration of poll results to favour the BJD, the party has written to the collector and State Election Commission.

Talking to the newspersons here, CPM leader and former Nilagiri MLA Pradipta Panda on Thursday said though CPM supported candidate Sumati Jena was initially declared elected from ward no. 6 of Remuna panchayat, the BDO later announced Minati Jena as winner.

Similarly, Laxmipriya Kar was declared elected even though after counting Satyabhama Barik was announced winner from the ward no. 10 of Tentulida panchayat. The defeated candidate Anasuya Das was officially declared winner instead of Sukanti Das from ward no. 2 of Mandarpur panchayat, he added.

He further alleged that though they had appealed to the BDO for recounting in these wards, he didn’t oblige.

“We want an independent inquiry and action against the erring BDO,” Panda wrote to the SEC.

The BDO, Akula Mallick, however, rubbished the allegations and said the poll results were declared as per election guidelines.
